Razzia (roundup)

Manhunt in which the police force searches, rounds up and arrests groups of people.

The first Dutch razzia took place in February 1941. In retaliation for a fight between (primarily Jewish) assault teams and German and Dutch Nazis, more than 400 men, mostly Jews, were randomly arrested on the street and deported to Mauthausen via the concentration camps Schoorl and Buchenwald. This instigated the February Strike. The final razzia was in September 1943, when the last Jews living in the Netherlands, mostly leaders of the Jewish Council, were taken from their homes and deported.
